This has been quite and month for USWNT forward Alex Morgan. The 29-year-old scored her 100th career goal for her country in an April 5 win over Australia.
On April 17, Morgan was named to the Time 100. The list of the 100 most influential people in the world was separated into five categories: Pioneers, artists, leaders, icons and titans.
Morgan, for her goal-scoring exploits, and willingness to fight for equal pay from the U.S. Soccer Federation was named a titan by the magazine.
Mia Hamm explained why Morgan deserved to make the Time 100.
” I feel great about the future of our sport because Alex is leading the way,” Hamm wrote. “From a young age, she’s someone who embraced her ability to connect with her fans and generate more excitement for her team and the sport.
Morgan was one of three female athletes to make the list. Tennis star Naomi Osaka was honored as a pioneer and South African sprinter Caster Semenya was the other.
