Newspapers from across the Sunshine State have announced their boys and girls soccer Players of the Year from the recently completed Florida High School Athletic Association 2018-19 season.
Here is a look at the teams from across the state.
PENSACOLA
Girls: Kristen Goodroe, Forward, Gulf Breeze. Scored 28 goals for Class 3A state finalist.
Boys: Nelson Lippert, Forward, Pensacola Catholic
TALLAHASSEE
Boys: Sy Fontenot, Forward, Tallahassee Leon. Scored 30 goals and assisted 21 others for 24-1-1 Lions.
Girls: McIver Levy, Forward, Tallahassee Lincoln. She scored 31 goals and provided 19 assists for the Trojans.
JACKSONVILLE
Boys: James Schaefer, Forward/Midfielder, Neptune Beach Fletcher. Scored 22 goals and assisted 10 others for Class 4A semifinalists.
Girls: Olivia Candelino, Forward, Jacksonville Bolles. She scored 33 goals and provided 25 assists for Class 2A state champions.
ST. AUGUSTINE
Girls: Taylor Radecki, Midfielder, St. Johns Bartram Trail. Florida State signee scored four goals and provided 11 assists for Class 4A semifinalists.
Boys: Jack Dearie, Defender, Ponte Vedra Beach Nease. Scored four goals and added eight assists to lead team to playoffs for first time in five years.
ORLANDO
Boys: Luis Mora, Forward, Celebration. The Class 5A Player of the Year scored 29 goals and added 16 assists in 24 games for the Class 5A semifinalists.
Girls: Jody Brown, Forward, Montverde Academy. Florida’s Miss Soccer led the Eagles with 31 goals and nine assists. She scored the only goal in the Class 4A state semifinal and final to help Montverde remain undefeated in its last 32 matches.
