UCF won its fifth straight match on Friday night with a 2-0 win over Temple in its American Athletic Conference kick off. The No. 12 Knights (6-1-1) used a pair of Louis Perez assists to top Temple (2-5-0).

Yori Sorokin scored his first goal of the season with his header from Perez’s in-swinging corner kick. Sorokin’s goal marked the sixth time this season the Knights scored within the first 15 minutes.
The Knights peppered Temple all evening long at the UCF Soccer and Track Complex producing 13 corner kicks and putting eight shots on goal. Temple finished with four shots, but none of the came in the second half.

Temple’s challenge was made more difficult when sophomore defender Mickael Borger picked up his second yellow card, in a span of seven minutes, in the 57th minute.
It took the Knights 20 minutes to make the most of their numerical advantage. It arrived when freshman forward Jonan Schmalbach scored his first collegiate goal in the 77th minute.
UCF will host Florida Atlantic on Oct. 1, then travel to Dallas to face No. 8 Southern Methodist (8-0-0) on Oct. 6.
