The NCAA revealed its field of 64 for the 2019 women’s soccer tournament on Monday afternoon. A trio of Florida teams are in the field, including reigning national champion Florida State.
The Seminoles (15-5) will host Sun Belt Conference champions South Alabama (16-3-2). Kickoff is scheduled for Nov. 16 at 6 p.m.
Meanwhile, the other two Florida-based programs in the field will face each other. Florida (11-8-1) hosts South Florida (14-4) on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m.
Florida State is one of four national seeds in the tournament. The Seminoles would host every match they play in the tournament until the NCAA College Cup. Florida State, who is 44-1-1 when playing NCAA tournament matches at the Seminiole Soccer Complex, could host either Florida State or USF in the third round.
“I think earning the one seed is really an important factor,” Florida head coach Mark Krikorian told Seminoles.com. “Certainty we do schedule a tough out of conference schedule and the ACC takes care the rest of it. We have played a lot of very good teams and we’re not shy of scheduling a lot of teams on that list. We are thrilled to be a number one and I am sure the committee has a tough job to do and I think they rewarded us for our strength of schedule. We are going to go out and hopefully show that we earned that.”
