Latest statewide rankings features new No. 1

Weston Cypress Bay’s 1-0 loss to Fort Lauderdale Cardinal Gibbons on Jan. 14 was not included in the FHSAA rankings that were released on Wednesday. The Lightning showed how formidable they are by responding in their next outing — a 1-0 win over Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, the No. 1 team in Class 6A.
Miami Coral Reef, the team that held the No. 1 spot for the first three polls of the season, dropped all the way to No. 11 after its upset loss to South Dade on Jan. 7.
