Plantation American Heritage overtakes St. Johns Bartram Trail to take No. 1 spot

The Florida High School Athletic Association instituted a new playoff format this season with the aim of fielding a more competitive postseason and state tournament.

As high school soccer approaches the business end of the season, Official Florida FC will provide a rundown of the top varsity programs in the state.

For the third time in as many weeks, there is a new statewide No. 1. Tampa Plant and Lakeland Christian are the only unbeaten teams in the state, but neither is atop the FHSAA rankings.

Plantation American Heritage, despite having more losses than eight of the other schools in the top 10 takes over for Weston Cypress Bay. The Patriots’ 1-0 loss to Boca Raton on Jan. 22 was not included in the rankings that were released on Jan. 22.

A final statewide ranking will be released on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
