Lions lose to Rapids for first time in club history

Orlando City produced a pair of first on Saturday night in Commerce City, Colorado: Chris Mueller scored the Lions first goal of 2020. Later, the visitors conceded right before injury time to allow the Colorado Rapids to defeat the Lions for the first time.

The latter stung more. Drew Moor’s first MLS goal since September 2017 proved to be the winner. The 36-year-old Texan’s header in the 90th minute overcame Mueller’s 82nd minute equalizer.

“We had the game in our hands and we let it go,” Orlando City midfielder Andrés Perea told the club’s website orlandocitysc.com. “Now it’s time to turn the page and focus on Chicago.”

Orlando City entered the game 4-0-1 against the Rapids in club history. Colorado’s win marked the first time since 2012 the Rapids won their first two matches of the season.

Orlando City (0-1-1, 1 point) hosts Chicago (0-1-1, 1 point) on Saturday, March 14.
