Rhodes, the Class 5A Player of the Year in 2019, scored 137 goals and assisted 42 others over the last three years of her varsity career.

Vero Beach won 27 straight games when Rhodes scored.

“It’s cool and it’s a great honor to be selected as the best player in the state,” Rhodes told TCPalm.com. “There’s so many good players in the state, girls that are my friends who I’ll be playing against in college. It really is a great honor.”

Newspaper reporters in the state also recognized St. Johns Bartram Trail head coach Jen Rodriguez as the 2020 Coach of the Year.

Rodriguez led Bartram Trail to a 21-1-3 record and the Class 7A state championship. She earned eight of 15 first-place votes.

Bartram Trail was the only public school to win a FHSAA state championship this season. Rodriguez is 301-92-40 in 19 years at the helm of Bartram Trail.
