Inter Miami Designated Player turned in match-winning performance against Toronto FC

Rodolfo Pizarro was named MLS Player of the Week after helping Inter Miami to a 3-1 home win over Toronto FC on Saturday.
Pizarro scored a brace to help the Herons win their fourth straight home match. Inter Miami is playing its best soccer of the season. The Herons are 3-2-1 in their last six matches.
Inter Miami (6-9-4, 22 points) is 11th in the Eastern Conference. However, the Herons are only five points behind D.C. United for the final playoff spot from the conference with two games in hand.
Inter Miami appears to have stabilized from a stretch of four straight losses heading into, and coming out of, June’s international break. Not coincidentally, Pizarro was injured during that period.
“We want to win,” Pizarro told Inter Miami’s website. “We know we are a good team. We have confidence in the other players.”
Inter Miami will have a chance to show how much confidence they have in each other in the coming weeks. The Herons play three of their next four on the road. Orlando City is a budding rival while Cincinnati and Toronto are two of the worst teams in Major League Soccer.
