Port Orange Spruce Creek kicked off the new year with a three-win week to maintain its place atop the FHSAA boys soccer rankings. The Hawks (17-1-1) shutout Sanford Seminole and Deltona. Sandwiched between those results was a 3-2 win over previously undefeated Davenport Ridge Community on Jan. 7.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Panama City Beach Arnold’s 40-match unbeaten streak was snapped with a 2-1 loss to Niceville on Jan. 8. Niceville replaced Arnold as the No. 3 team in the statewide top 10.

The panhandle may have something to say this season. Four of the top 10 are from the panhandle. Tallahassee Chiles has allowed one goal during its seven-match winning streak. No. 9 Gulf Breeze will have a chance to state its case for being ranked higher when it hosts Niceville on Jan. 18.
