Undefeated St. Johns Bartram Trail retains top spot

The 10 girls soccer programs in the Sunshine State remained the same in the FHSAA rankings that were released Monday. But, their order is anew.

St. Johns Bartram Trail tops the rankings for the second straight week. The Bears scored seven against a Gainesville P.K. Yonge program that had allowed nine goals in 11 matches prior to Bartram’s 7-0 win on Jan. 3.

Orange Park St. Johns Country remained at No. 2 statewide and perennial powers Miami Lourdes and Ponte Vedra both stood still at Nos. 9 and 10. The six programs between St. Johns and Lourdes that moved up and down.

Montverde Academy, the only team to beat St. Johns this season, moved up one place to No. 3. Undefeated and untied Fort Lauderdale Archbishop McCarthy (14-0-0) moved up five places to No. 4.

Archbishop McCarthy has a pair of massive opportunities on the horizon when it hosts St. Thomas Aquinas (8-2-2) on Thursday night and travels to Lourdes on January 18. Those are the matches that might go a long way in determining whether the Mavericks can win their second state championship in the last four seasons.
