Statewide No. 1 Arnold caps off unbeaten regular season
By Official Florida FC
The high school soccer season is reaching the put-up-or-shutup part of the schedule. For most boys soccer programs, the regular season concludes tonight with either rivalry games, county or conference tournaments or one, final, tune-up before next week’s district tournaments begin.
Florida’s top-ranked program, Panama City Beach Arnold, completed its second unbeaten regular season in the last three years. The Marlins (15-0-2) beat Navarre 8-0 on Jan. 19 to conclude the regular season with a plus-88 goal differential.
Arnold has advanced to the state final in each of the last two seasons. Their outstanding regular season means, the Marlins would almost assuredly host a state semifinal if they keep winning. That home-field advantage may be massive because three of the top five programs in the state are in Class 5A.
Some other programs who are on the cusp of special seasons are second-ranked St. Brendan. The reigning Class 4A state champions are 9-0-2 this season and 32-2-6 over the last three seasons.
Two other programs in the Top 10 completed unbeaten seasons. Mandarin’s 8-0 win over Paxon on Thursday night means the Mustangs (15-0-1) completed the 2022-23 regular season as Gateway Conference champions and unbeaten.
Viera dropped out of the top 10. But, the Hawks (14-0-1) can console themselves with an unbeaten season and Cape Coast Conference championship.
Here is a look at the statewide top 10 that was released earlier this week.
