FC Dallas 1, Inter Miami 0

Inter Miami’s unbeaten start is retreating further into the rear-view mirror. The Herons once again struggled to create chances, creating just three tame shots on goal despite starting both Leo Campana and Josef Martinez at forward on Saturday night at DRV PNK Stadium.

USMNT forward Jesús Ferreira scored his fourth goal of the season in the 27th minute. He could have scored in the ninth minute, but his effort was inches over the top corner and again in the 22nd when his right-footed shot hit the near post.

Dallas created more in the 25 minutes before Ferreira’s goal than Inter Miami did in the entirety of the match. The visitors constantly exploited the space behind wingback Franco Negri.

It says something about Dallas’ dominance that Inter Miami keeper Drake Callender was named to the Team of the Matchday, despite losing.

Matchday 7 is the third time this season Callendar has been named to the Team of the Matchday. Two of those honors have come in Inter Miami losses.

Inter Miami (2-5-0, 6 points) has lost five straight. The club has not scored in 194 minutes.

“At the start of last season, we went on a similar run and then we did turn it around. We have to turn it around now and we have to turn it around quick…Now it’s time to get back to winning ways,” said head coach Phil Neville told the team’s website. “We have a great group of players and staff, and togetherness and spirit are the key things that we’ve built here, and that must remain.”

Inter Miami travels to play the Houston Dynamo on Saturday on Matchday 8. The Dynamo (3-0-3, 9 points) have won three of its last four matches after losses to Eastern Conference leaders Cincinnati and New England.
