By Official Florida FC
Florida State ended the regular season with a flourish. The Seminoles won their fifth straight game on Thursday to clinch the No. 3 seed in the ACC Tournament.
Wrianna Hudson’s 42nd minute goal was all the Seminoles needed to beat Miami 1-0. Hudson has scored four goals in her last four games to help Florida State quality for the ACC Women’s Soccer Championship for the 30th straight year.
Meanwhile, Miami concluded its first season under head coach Ken Masuhr, with just five wins in 17 matches. The Hurricanes (5-8-4, 1-6-3) will have to fare better against in-state opponents if they are going to be competitive in the ACC in the years ahead. Miami started the season with a home loss to UNF and was just 2-2-1 against Florida foes this fall.
Florida State (12-2-2, 7-2-1) won its last five matches of the regular season. They outscored opponents 17-3 on aggregate during that spell.
The Seminoles begin their quest to win a fifth straight ACC Women’s Soccer Championship on Sunday against Notre Dame (11-2-4, 5-1-4).
The Seminoles and Fighting Irish did not play in the regular season this year.
