Florida’s two entrants in the MLS Cup Playoffs will face elimination on their home pitch this week.

Atlanta United shocked Inter Miami in Game 2 of their best-of-three series in Georgia’s capital city.

As was the case in Game 1, Inter Miami converted its early chances into a first-half goal. This time, it was David Martinez who scored for the Supporter’s Shield winners.

Atlanta United keeper Brad Guzan tried to clear the ball, but spilled possession. Federico Redondo found Martinez who coolly chipped a ball over the Atlanta United defense and into the net.

The Herons couldn’t find the second goal to put the match, and the series away. That lack of finishing now means they play 90 minutes in South Florida with their season on the line.

Atlanta used goals from center back Derrick Williams and a stoppage time score from Xande Silva to force Game 3.

Orlando City’s route to an elimination match was not nearly as entertaining. The Lions and Charlotte FC played to a scoreless draw in North Carolina on Friday night.

Charlotte FC’s Kristijan Kahlina may be the favorite to win MLS Goalkeeper of the Year after a regular season where he tied for the league lead with 12 clean sheets. Orlando City only forced Kahlina to make one save over 90 minutes. The Croat made up for lost time in penalty kicks as he saved two Orlando City efforts to extend the series.

Orlando City and Inter Miami will host Game 3 on Saturday night. The Lions kick off at 6 p.m., while the Supporter’s Shield winners kick off at 8 p.m.
