The FHSAA soccer season is racing toward the district playoffs.
Each Tuesday, after the FHSAA releases its official rankings, Official Florida FC will share which programs are the best in the Sunshine State.
While little more than regular season bragging rights are at stake, the FHSAA rankings are a good indicator of which teams will host once regional tournaments kick off in February.
Plantation American Heritage usurps Montverde Academy as the statewide No. 1.
In their last three matches, American Heritage (10-1) has handed Miami Lourdes Academy its only loss of the season, Parkland Stoneman Douglas its only loss of the season and beaten West Boca 8-0.
The Patriots have conceded five goals all season. They conclude the regular season against a pair of teams – Delray Beach American Heritage and Naples Gulf Coast – who have losing records. American Heritage is on the hunt for a third straight state title. It’s likely the only team standing in their way is an Orlando Bishop Moore squad that seeks a fourth consecutive crown. But, those things will be decided in February.
Montverde will have a chance to end the regular season as the statewide No. 1 if it can pull off a St. Johns sweep this weekend when it hosts Ponte Vedra and St. Johns Creekside.
