Orlando City continued one of the more intriguing streaks in Major League Soccer against Real Salt Lake on Saturday night. The Lions did not lose their home opener.
Orlando City and Real Salt Lake played 90 minutes without scoring, or creating a chance that would lead to either team’s opening goal of 2020. The match was the only scoreless draw in the first round of matches.
Real Salt Lake (0-0-1, 1 point) was only afforded five shots, four of which were outside of the penalty. In all, the visitors only put one shot on target.
Orlando City had more possession, shots and tackles. What the Lions didn’t have was more goals. The club’s best effort came in the 83rd minute when winger Chris Mueller’s shot from the right was high and wide.
Clearwater native Zac McMath made two saves for RSL to produce his first shutout of the season.
